Overwatch 2 scientist confirms it’s not just you, Cassidy’s ultimate sucks-
When Cassidy pops his Deadeye ultimate, starts glowing orange, and yells “It’s high noon,” my seven years of experience playing Overwatch tell me to run for my life. But, according to Overwatch 2 scientist Marblr, the cowboy’s ult isn’t as threatening as it might seem.
Marblr breaks down several glaring problems with Cassidy’s ultimate in their latest video: Cassidy’s ult is supposed to lock onto targets (indicated by a closing red circle and skull) and fire at all of them when you pull the trigger. Walls and shields can block your bullets, but if enemies are out in the open, they’re supposed to get hit. And yet sometimes, Cassidy misses.
For a long time, nobody could explain why Cassidy’s ult sometimes fails to hit enemies who definitely should’ve been toast. There are plenty of videos out there of Mercy inexplicably parrying a Deadeye shot without taking any damage and other heroes living through the ultimate despite being in clear line-of-sight of Cassidy.

Nearly every essential Castlevania game is now on PC, with one glaring exception-
It took nearly three years after Konami brought the Castlevania Advance Collection to PC for it to bundle up the next set of games in the series, originally released on the DS in the late 2000s, and port them to PC. But what’s a few years in the life of Dracula? He only wakes up to throw a party in his castle once a century or two, so the wait for Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia barely counts as a power nap for ol’ Vlad Tepes.
But I’m glad to see those games join the Game Boy Advance ‘vanias as well as the Anniversary Collection on Steam, because that’s 16 classic 2D Castlevanias total now easily playable on PC. What more could we ask for, really?
Well, there is that one game. A pretty obvious omission, given how much of Konami’s back catalog is now available on Steam. Opinions on it are practically unanimous: Everyone knows just how good it is. After today’s launch of the Dominus Collection, I think everyone who cares about…
Resident Evil 2 and 3’s ray tracing options are already back-
Update 4/20/23: Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 2 and 3’s ray tracing options, as well as the similarly missing 3D audio, have been added back to the games. I popped into RE2 myself to double check and lo and behold: traced rays back where they belong. It’s still unclear what sort of error led to their brief departure in the first place, but all’s well that ends well, and Racoon City is back to looking all spiffy and next gen.
Original Story: True horror struck Raccoon City last week, as legions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 fans—myself included—who spent far too much money on their graphics cards suddenly found the games’ ray tracing tech removed. The sudden and silent withdrawal of RT options seemed to be tied to an April 14 patch to both games, and it wasn’t clear if the lighting tech would ever make a return.
But it looks like the removal was a mistake, because Capcom has finally …
Phil Spencer says he’s open to bringing stores like Epic and Itch.io to Xbox consoles-
Historically, exclusive game releases have been a powerful weapon in the console war: Customers are more apt to buy a certain piece of hardware if that’s the only way they can get the particular games they want to play. In an interview with Polygon, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said Microsoft is now leaning away from that strategy, to the point that he’s even open to the idea of having digital storefronts like the Epic Games Store and Itch.io on Xbox consoles.
It was a big deal earlier this year when rumors that Microsoft was planning to bring Xbox-exclusive games to PlayStation first began to surface. It ultimately proved to be true, although only a small number of games—and none of the big ones—are currently set to make the move. But it really seemed to set the tone for the future: In a podcast confirming the Xbox-to-PlayStation pipeline, Spencer said that over the next five to 10 years, console-exclusive games “are going to be a smaller and smaller part of the games i…
The worst Modern Warfare 3 bug yet means I can’t freaking unlock anything-
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been out less than a week and my unlocks have slowed to a crawl. Some of that can be attributed to Sledgehammer Games’ new Armory Unlock system placing hard limits on how fast players can earn select guns, attachments, and equipment, but the real holdup is an infuriating launch week bug.
The bug, which Sledgehammer Games finally acknowledged as an issue on its Trello board yesterday, causes one or more Daily Challenges to not track for some players. Were this any other year of CoD I might not have even noticed this was happening to me, but in Modern Warfare 3, completing Daily Challenges is a requirement to unlock around half of the new gear on offer.
For instance, to unlock my personal favorite throwable, the Drill Charge, I have to earn three Armory points by completing three daily challenges. You get three dailies per day, and after that Armory points can be earned by winning matches. The problem is, if one of my Daily Challenges is …
The Elder Scrolls Online dev says the ‘metaverse’ is sinking because it ignored 20 years of games doing the exact same thing- ‘It’s not new, and they should stop treating it like it’s new’-
When the “metaverse” sales pitch did the rounds in 2022 and 2023, anyone who has been playing MMOs like The Elder Scrolls Online likely had the same thought: “Hold on, I can already do this in a game that lets me have legs.”
It’s not exactly been panning out, either. Meta has lost billions trying to make a virtual world you can live in, buy property in, and customise an avatar in, that sort of thing. You know, everything that the MMORPG has been providing for players for years.
Even when virtual reality headsets arrived to make all those Ready Player One-style pipedreams come true, games like VR Chat actually delivered on the process of being baptised by a priest while Winnie the Pooh watches. Heck—I’d trust the powerful furries of Second Life to build me a digital home far more than Zuckerberg’s research department.
That’s a sentiment (the MMO thing, not the furry thing) echoed by The Elder Scrolls Online’s creative director Matt Firor in an inte…

To celebrate Baldur’s Gate 3’s first birthday, Larian announces a ‘Channel From Hell’ on YouTube for ‘community-focused’ and ‘never-before-seen’ videos-
To help mark a full year since Baldur’s Gate 3’s release, Larian has revealed a new “Channel From Hell” on YouTube. Though the studio has not yet uploaded anything, it wrote on X, “The Everything App” that the “community-focused” channel is set to “feature regular and never-seen-before videos which will arrive this summer.”
It’s hard to believe we’re already at the one-year anniversary of Baldur’s Gate 3’s launch, but it was one year ago today that we all loaded into that character creator, made some kind of really hot orc or elf, and then toggled the armor display to reveal Penis D (or some variation on that theme).
And after all that time, the magic hasn’t really worn off. I’ve got almost 300 hours logged and I’m still pondering my next playthrough. Even as Larian commits to future RPGs outside the Forgotten Realms, the studio is actively interacting with its fanbase and still planning some updates to Baldur’s Gate 3, like the modding and villainy-focused Patch 7.

I’m sure today’s Wordle had a lovely time tripping me up—it must have, it did it so often. Every time I thought I’d cracked it, I ended up with another disappointing grey letter to check off my list. Every correct letter that should surely have been green was a yellow. I have to admit, I did enjoy the little happy gasp I made when I finally sorted everything into the right places though.

Oh, that was embarrassing. Not the number of goes it took me to win—I think a clear in four’s more than respectable—but that I had almost all of the pieces before me really early on. It turns out that I couldn’t see the solution until I’d pretty much gone around the entire keyboard, “skillfully” avoiding the most obvious Wordle answer the whole time.
