Warzone 2 is getting its most-requested feature in Season 2, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer-
The release of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 in November was, for the most part, a clean break from the original game. It had largely the same features, a great new map, DMZ mode, and lots of neat quality-of-life updates. The one thing that Warzone 2 did not have, to the dismay of a huge chunk of its community, was a small map. Activision plans to remedy this in Season 2 with the return of Resurgence mode and a new small map to accompany it, but it’s taking some extra time to deliver.
Warzone 2 Season 2 has been delayed two weeks, and is now planned to start on February 15. Activision explained the delay on the official Call of Duty Twitter account, saying that it’s “making several changes based on what we have heard from our player community.”
One of those changes is, possibly, the fast-tracking of a small map and Resurgence mode, a battle royale variant that allows squads to respawn if at least one teammate is alive. The Warzone community’s love affair with …
Valve said Counter-Strike 2 would be out this summer, now says it ‘launches soon’-
Valve is currently celebrating Steam’s 20th anniversary in the only way Valve knows how: massive discounts on all of its games, and bad jokes. The studio posted a neat timeline crammed with trivia about the platform, which begins with it getting in a quarrel with itself about what the first third party game released on Steam was (Codename: Gordon, apparently, though as it’s now de-listed Rag Doll Kung Fu also gets a shout-out), and ends with the tiniest tidbit of news about Valve’s biggest release of the year.
Early in 2023 the Counter-Strike community got all aflutter following various claims from dataminers, players and journalists that something big was on the way. It was: Valve announced Counter-Strike 2, a direct sequel to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is going to be free-to-play and will carry over all of players’ precious cosmetics.
Since then it’s been in a limited beta, which initially was quite restrictedwith only a small pe…
Voice actors vote overwhelmingly to approve a strike- ‘It’s time for the videogame companies to stop playing games’-
SAG-AFTRA, the union representing actors, broadcast journalists, hosts, voice actors, and other media professionals in the US, has voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike against videogame companies including Activision, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, and Take-Two Interactive. The vote does not mean that a strike will be called, but the union hopes it will provide “added leverage” in its negotiations for a new Interactive Media Agreement.
The terms of the current Interactive Media Agreement were reached in 2017 following a nearly year-long strike by voice actors. That deal was set to expire in 2020, but was eventually extended until November 2022.
Negotiations for an updated agreement have been underway since October 2022, but SAG-AFTRA said signatory game companies “have refused to offer acceptable terms on some of the issues most critical to our members, including wages that keep up with inflation, protections around exploitative uses of artificial intelligence,…
Wordle today- Hint and answer #915 for Thursday, December 21-
There’s a clue for today’s Wordle ready to go, in case your game’s not revealing those helpful green letters as quickly as you hoped it would. You’ll also find the answer to the December 21 (915) puzzle on this page too, waiting to save a bad game, or just to make sure you get to the best bit as swiftly as possible.
That’s more like it. Today’s Wordle answer came without too much of a struggle, thanks to the help I received in my opening pair of guesses. Although it was less what they revealed this time around and more what they confirmed was absent. Thankfully, they instantly ruled out just about everything bar the correct word (and one similar-but-wrong guess that I’ll pretend didn’t happen).

YouTube renews war on adblockers by testing out a 3 video limit-
YouTube’s been tinkering with its ads again. In its latest experiment, you’ll be put on a countdown of three videos if an adblock’s detected, after which you’ll be forced to either whitelist the site or do something else with your time.
In a thread on the YouTube subreddit, user Reddit_n_Me posted a screenshot of an ominous warning that states that the “Video player will be blocked after three videos”, with a helpful 1-2-3 diagram for the visual learners among us. It then reminds you that ads help YouTube remain free for users, and that you can shell out for premium to avoid them.
YouTube cracking down on if you’re not paying them to block the ads, it hurts me, and hurt you. from r/youtube
This was then confirmed by The Verge when they spoke to YouTube last week, who said its been running: “a small experiment globally that urges viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium […] Ad block…
You have a higher chance of winning the silicon lottery with a Core i9 13900KF than the 13900K-
A massive effort to test and sort Intel Raptor Lake CPUs by their overclocking ability has led to some surprising results. Igor’s Lab, with the help of MIFCOM, has tested over 500 of Intel’s latest 13th Gen processors to find out whether they’re overclocking naturals or silicon saps. From this data, it’s drawn the conclusion that, surprisingly, the Core i9 13900KF might be one of the best overclockers this generation. Even beating the pricier Core i9 13900K.
The incredibly complex lithographic process that etches immensely complex designs onto silicon is extremely accurate nowadays, but it’s still not perfect. Minuscule differences between individual dies can see one CPU performing better than another when it comes to overclocking. In short, some CPUs are simply made better than others.
Admittedly, the days of near-perfect CPUs running hundreds, if not thousands, of megahertz faster than another of the same model are long gone. But there are still so-called ‘golden…
